With the new Lincoln Navigator now the benchmark in the full-size premium SUV segment, Lincoln hopes to do the same for medium luxury SUVs with a new Aviator. The previously discontinued SUV returns from the grave as a stunning plug-in hybrid.
The Lincoln Aviator Concept was a show-stopper at the 2028 New York Auto Show, impressing journalists and the public alike with its bold yet classy exterior styling and exquisite interior. To my eye, it is better executed than the latest Navigator.
Fortunately, Lincoln says the production version will look almost identical to the concept, with the biggest difference likely being toned-down mirrors and a few other small changes. Needless to say, it will have problem standing out from the crowd.
Lincoln Design Director David Woodhouse, stated:
“In Aviator, the lines of the vehicle are streamlined. You have the stature and presence of the grille at the front, then the body and tail taper off – creating a distinct aerofoil analogy.”
The simple yet elegant interior is airy thanks to relatively thin pillars. It will be available with multiple power outlets and the firm’s latest and greatest technologies, including Perfect Position seats that have a message function and can be adjusted in a multitude of ways; Co-Pilot360; wireless phone charging; standard Wi-Fi; and a pillar-mounted keypad. Truly keyless operation via smartphone allows owners to lock and unlock, open the trunk, start and drive the vehicle using an app on their phone.
What lies under the sheetmetal is just as impressive as the stunning exterior and interior. Like the Dodge Durango, the Aviator is built on a rear-wheel-drive platform that should make it more capable than traditional front-wheel drive crossovers. It will be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that pairs an electric drive system and a twin-turbo gasoline engine, possibly Ford’s 2.7- or 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine.
Possibly the car that will make Lincoln relevant again, the new Lincoln Aviator is expected to arrive sometime in 2019. Have Lincoln’s designers done a good job? Did they do enough?
VW I.D. Roomzz Concept Previews An Electric Three-Row SUV
The latest concept in Volkswagen’s I.D. family is a people-hauler first and foremost.
Volkswagen is cooking up a flagship electric SUV, and the VW I.D. Roomzz Concept is an indication of what’s to come.
Based on a stretched version of the modular electric drive matrix (MEB) platform that underpins the I.D. Crozz concept, the Roomzz is a full-size SUV with three-rows of seating for up to eight occupants. More than that, the seats can be reconfigured to deliver a lounge-like experience.
Other interior highlights include a digital, glass-front panel, and massive screens for the instrument cluster and dashboard infotainment.
Level 4 autonomous capabilities means the I.D. Roomzz can drive itself in certain areas and under certain conditions without an active driver. Power is provided by two electric motors, one on each axle to provide all-wheel drive capability, energized by a 82-kWh battery.
The electric drivetrain generates a total of 302 horsepower, can accelerate the SUV from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.6 seconds on route to a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h), and provides a driving range of up to 280 miles (451 km) on Europe’s WLTP cycle, or 475 km (295 mi) under NEFZ in China.
The production version of the Volkswagen I.D. Roomzz concept is slated to debut sometime in 2020, around the same time as the production versions of the I.D. Crozz and I.D. hatchback. The Microbus-inspired I.D. Buzz and I.D. Vizzion sedan will follow suit in 2022.

Inspired by rock climbing, the Gladiator Gravity “concept” stands out as the brightest of the six Gladiator concepts Jeep developed for the 2019 Moab Easter Safary, thanks in large part to its Punk’N Metallic Orange exterior. Every piece of accessory it showcases is available for order via Mopar, including the steel tube doors and rock rails, 17-inch gear wheels with 35-inch tires, two-inch lift kit, mesh sunbonnet, and tie-down straps that secure the windshield when lowered.
The bed area features Mopar cross rails and a cargo carrier basket to divide up storage space for rock-climbing gear, such as ropes, carabiners, helmets and shoes, while a unique Mopar/Decked truck bed storage system further adds to its versatility.

Jeep Gladiator Flatbill Is The Motocross Fan’s Pickup Truck

Dirt bikes and pickups go together like peanut butter and jelly, and of the six Gladiator concepts Jeep baked for the 2019 Moab Easter Jeep Safari, only the Jeep Gladiator Flatbill was purpose-developed for Motocross racing fans.
Named after the flat-brimmed caps often worn by bros, specifically the ones who might be into trucks and motocross, the Gladiator Flatbill is a dirt-bike hauler featuring modified pieces that facilitate getting bikes to and from the motocross track.
A four-inch lift, high-clearance flares, massive 40-inch tires, a custom-designed shortened front bumper, and a skid plate make sure you can go basically anywhere you’d want, while a removable tailgate and dedicated wheel ramps that slide out makes it easy to access or load your motorcycle.
