Man Crashes Mercedes-Benz to Avoid Rat on Road
Loving animals is a great virtue, but would you crash an expensive Mercedes-Benz to save one? What if that animal was a rat?
According to a story by Indian tabloid , Mumbai resident Gaurav Ujjanwal did just that. He apparently rammed a Mercedes Kompressor C200 that belonged to his boss into on a Mumbai highway after spotting a big rat on the road. He swerved to avoid the rodent, lost control and smashed into a divider, severely wrecking the front end of the vehicle.
Ujjanwal later reported the accident to the police and to his boss.
“I have also informed my boss, and he hasn’t said anything to me yet,” he told the newspaper, claiming that he was driving at a speed of 60-70 km/h. Repair work will cost around Rs 4-5 lakh, but it is unclear whether he will be the one to incur the expense.
While dirty critters in just about everywhere else in the world, rats are sacred in Indian Hindu culture. Did Ujjanwal, if Hindu, crash his Benz because of a righteous impulse or did he do so because he was startled, possibly because he was speeding?
