Not long after unveiling the Concept, BMW has confirmed that the production 8 Series will enter production in 2018.
The 8 Series will replace the 7 Series as the German automaker’s flagship model, offering the best it has to offer. It will go head-to-head with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe.
According to reports, there will be convertible and Gran Coupe versions in addition to the standard two-door coupe, with the convertible expected to arrive in 2019.
BMW hasn’t released details about the production 8 Series, but it is expected to share engines with the 7 Series sedan, including a turbocharged 3.0L six-cylinder and a 6.6L V12. The high-performance M8 will likely get a more powerful version of the new M5’s 4.4L twin-turbocharged V8.
