Chevy Malibu, Cruze Hatchback Blue Line Concepts Revealed for SEMA

General Motors has revealed the Chevrolet Malibu and Cruze RS hatchback Blue Line concepts for SEMA 2016.

Both models are tame compared to what one would normally see on the SEMA show floor, featuring a Genesis White exterior paint paired with blue-tinted windows and 18-inch wheels in a slate blue metallic.

They do, however, showcase available Chevrolet Accessories, including grille inserts, ground effects kits, spoilers, suspension lowering kits, sport pedals and illuminated doorsills, as well as a few accessories (e.g. factory upgrades for the air intake, brake system and exhaust) that will be offered in the future.

Roger McCormack, director, Accessories and Performance Parts Marketing, stated:

“The Chevrolet Blue Line Series concepts integrate accessories that offer greater personalization choices for customers. Each vehicle wears production and concept accessories thematically linked under the Blue Line Series banner. We look forward to gauging public reaction at the SEMA Show and other venues.”

New Corvette ZR1 Convertible Drops 755 Horses Like A Beast

New Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Convertible

The C7 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 has received a convertible version, and it’s just as bonkers as the coupe.

Unveiled at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show, the new Corvette ZR1 Convertible is the first drop-top ZR1 since the ZR1 first launched in 1969.

It has the same mechanical bits as the ZR1 coupe, meaning power is provided by an LT5 6.2-liter supercharged V8 with 755 horsepower and 715 pound-feet of torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a choice of either a seven-speed manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Of course, the addition of a retractable top results in a weight penalty (60 pounds, to be exact) that should impede overall performance a tad bit. Zero-to-60 mph (96 km/h) is expected to come in at less than three seconds, and the quarter mile in the high 10-second range. Top speed is approximately 212 mph (132 km/h).

Like the coupe, the Corvette ZR1 Convertible is available with the $2,995 ZTK Performance Package, which adds a large rear wing, front splitter, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and Magnetic Ride control suspension. It can produces up to 950 lbs of downforce.

The new, 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Convertible starts at $123,995 in the United States, representing a $4,000 premium over the coupe.

New Corvette ZR1 Makes 755HP! Fastest, Most Powerful Chevy Yet

New Chevy Corvette ZR1

There C7 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is finally here, and it will blow the hood off almost every supercar ever made. It’s the fastest, most powerful Corvette yet!

Expectedly, the latest ZR1 shares much of its hardware with the but kicks things up a notch by offering more power, better handling and more overall refinement. Breathing under its hood is a supercharged LT5 V8 that pumps out a whopping 755 horsepower and 715 pound-feet of torque, making it not only the most powerful Corvette ever, but also the most powerful vehicle to roll off Chevy’s assembly line.

A seven-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission — your choice — channels all that power to the rear wheels, allowing the Corvette ZR1 to sprint to 60 mph (96 km/h) from a standstill in approximately 2.8 seconds on route to a top speed of over 210 mph (338 km/h)! That’s puts it in the highly coveted 2 second and 200 mph clubs, which includes the Bugatti Chirron and other world-class exotics.

The Corvette Z06 launched with overheating issues; to spare the ZR1 that fate, engineers equipped a new intercooler and supercharger system, a redesigned nose, a hood opening that channels air to the intercooler, and 13 heat exchangers.

Two aero packages are available to help improve handling, both integrated into the chassis and working in unison with a new front underwing. The first delivers the highest top speed, featuring a low wing that helps generate up to 70 percent more downforce than the Z06’s base aero package.

The second is a two-way-adjustable High Wing that delivers maximum downforce on the track for the quickest lap times, offering 60 percent more downforce than the Z06 with the Z07 Performance Package.

Functional design elements aside, the new Corvette ZR1 introduces a new Sebring Orange Design Package that gives the exterior a Sebring Orange Tintcoat complimented by orange stripes on the rocker panels and splitter, and orange brake calipers. It spruces up the interior with orange and bronze aluminum trim.

Sales of the all-new, 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 start in spring 2018 with a price tag of over $100,000. It will undoubtedly put all other supercars on notice.

Are you happy with how Chevy’s monster turned out?

Tesla Model S Wins ‘World’s Greatest Drag Race’

Tesla Model S P100D

Each year, Motor Trend holds a ‘World’s Greatest Drag Race’ featuring some of the fastest, most exciting sports cars, supercars and hypercars ever made. And this year, not a single one of them won.

The high-octane race part of the magazine’s “best driver’s car” competition and features the finalists doing a simultaneous quarter mile race against each other on an airstrip — the Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, this time around.

As you would imagine, the list of contenders is what every car enthusiast’s dream is made of. See for yourself:

  • Ferrari 488 GTB
  • McLaren 570GT
  • Porsche 911 Turbo S
  • Mercedes-AMG GT R
  • Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE
  • Porsche 718 Cayman S
  • Lexus LC 500
  • Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio
  • Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport
  • Mazda MX-5 Miata RF
  • Aston Martin DB11
  • Nissan GT-R NISMO

The Mazda MX-5 RF, despite being in contention for the “best driver’s car” title, is grossly underpowered and was forced to watch from the sidelines, wishing the track was a little twistier. To make things interesting, Motor Trend decided to replace the Mazda that wished-it-could with the Tesla Model S P100D Ludicrous, a car we’ve all wanted to see frolic with the likes a Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche in terms of pure speed.

And — you guessed it — the relatively unassuming, electric-powered Model S, the heaviest car on the track, beat them all! In fact, it would have crushed the race if not for the Ferrari 488 GTB and Porsche 911 Turbo S being hot on its heels. It’s quite something to see…

Guess which car came in last?
