Tesla Motors has quietly increased the battery range of the Model S sedan, extending it to over 300 miles (483 km) on a single charge.

The range boost was ushered in with the sedan’s latest styling update, which eliminated the faux grille in favour of a thin strip across the ‘T’ logo. People are split on the new look…

Whereas the previous Tesla Model S AWD 90D model had a 270 mile (435 km) range, the new version can travel up to 294 miles (473 km), according to the EPA.

The Model S AWD 90D is now capable of hitting over 302 miles (486 km) on a single charge at a constant cruising speed of 65mph (105 km/h) and in 70 degree ambient temperature. That makes it the first mainstream electric car to break the 300-mile range barrier.

With that improved rage, the Model S’ MPGe ratings has jumped from 95MPGe city / 106MPGe highway to 101MPGe city / 107MPGe on the highway.

No powertrain updates were announced for the Model S AWD 90D, so we suspect the improvements are the result of aerodynamic enhancements and/or an adjustment to the car’s power management system.

The British automaker celebrates its centianial with an excellent demonstration of extravagance.

Bentley turned 100 years old in 2019, and as part of it’s birthday celebration, unveiled a stunning electric car concept that looks to the future.

The EXP 100 GT concept is a vision of a Grand Tourer for 2035. It rides on an all-electric platform, provides a choice between fully autonomous operation and human-piloted driving, and features a flexible interior with three different seating configurations.

At 19-feet long and 7.8-feet wide, and with a curb weight of 4,188 pounds (1890 kg), the EXP 100 GT is a very large coupe with great visual presence. Designers blended proportions of Bentley’s historic grand tourers and futuristic elements to craft a GT car “for the world of 2035.” You will definitely notice the massive illuminated grille (it’s comprised of 6,000 LEDs) and round, beveled headlights.

The interior is flush with sustainable yet luxurious materials such as 5,000-year-old copper-infused riverwood, British farmed wool carpets, and embroidered cotton surfaces.

Power for the EXP 100 GT comes from four electric motors that can easily accelerate its large heft from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 2.5 seconds on route to a top speed of 186 mph (299 km/h). The battery pack delivers an estimated driving range of 435 miles (700 km) and can be recharged up to 80 percent capacity in only 15 minutes.

Since the EXP 100 GT is a vision of the future, autonomous driving technology is a centerpiece of it’s design. Drivers will have five self driving modes to choose from: Enhance, Cocoon, Capture, Re-Live and Customize.

“The Bentley EXP 100 GT represents the kind of cars we want to make in the future,” stated Stefan Sielaff, Director of Design. “Like those iconic Bentleys of the past, this car connects with its passengers’ emotions and helps them experience and safeguard the memories of the really extraordinary journeys they take.”

Here’s A BMW X7 Pickup Truck You Can’t Have

BMW X7 pickup truck

It’s not April 1, so no jokes here. This car is very real, but you can’t buy one.

BMW has transformed its biggest SUV into a pickup truck, and it’s pretty cool.

Developed by BMW Group vocational trainees in cooperation with the Concept Vehicle Construction and Model Technology divisions at BMW’s Munich plant, the BMW X7 Pickup is a one-off concept that can carry five passengers and an F 850 GS motorcycle. The roof panel, rear door skins, and tailgate are made from carbon fiber to minimize weight, trimming 440 pounds off the X7 SUV’s weight despite being a four inches longer.

The truck bed is finished in fine-polished wood finish, while a height-adjustable two-level air suspension makes it easier to get things into it.

There are no mechanical changes. Power is provided by a 3.0-liter straight-six engine that has been turbocharged to produce 340 horsepower, with an eight-speed automatic transmission driving the four wheels. BMW didn’t publish towing capacity, or revealed the effect the pickup conversion has on performance.

The BMW X7 truck concept looks production-ready and could be an interesting addition to the BMW lineup, but the German automaker stresses it has no plans to build it. What a shame.
