Having made a return in 2014, the Ram Power Wagon has received a number of cosmetic updates that make it look even meaner than it already is.
If chrome is not your thing, you’ll be happy to know that the 2017 Ram Power Wagon has most its chrome elements replaced with a darker treatment. The grille, headlights, side mirror caps, wheel arches, and rear bumper have all been murdered out, though the body decals can also be had in silver.
In fact, the only chrome piece left is the Ram badge on the Rebel-inspired grille. The rugged pickup truck rolls on blacked-out, new-look 17-inch wheels shod in 33-inch off-road tires and rides 2-inhces higher than the regular RAM 1500.
The interior remains the same for the most part, with the only major upgrade being the now-black headliner and new upholstery inserts.
Power continues to be provided by a meaty HEMI 6.4-liter V8 engine that cranks out 410 ponies and 429 pound-feet (581 newton meters) of torque, all channeled to the wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox and a manually-shifted transfer case.
The setup allows the 2017 Ram Power Wagon to tow up to 10,030 pounds (4,550 kilograms), and there is a 12,000-pound (5443 kg) electric winch up front in case you find yourself stuck in the mud.
Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand and Ram Brand, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles at the following to say about the off-roading truck:
“The Ram Power Wagon is an off-road, all-access pass, removing the limitations, instilling confidence and allowing owners to reach areas of recreation and lifestyle not attainable with any other pickup.” “The 2017 Ram Power Wagon delivers to those who travel into extreme terrain, while providing the towing and payload capability required in a heavy-duty truck.”
The 2017 Ram Power Wagon goes on sale in the fourth quarter of 2016.
