Porsche Working on SUV Coupe Like BMW X6, Could Launch in 2018

2013 Porsche Cayenne S Diesel, grey

First Mercedes-Benz, and now Porsche. The BMW X6 will be getting some uninvited guests at its one-man SUV Coupe party, and these guest don’t plan on leaving.

Mercedes previewed its answer to the X6 with the SUV Coupe Concept, and now we hear Porsche is preparing a less practical but “more stylish” version of the Cayenne (pictured above), just so it too can be part of the money-grabbing fun. That’s right, the Cayenne lineup will reportedly get an X6-like model.

Described as sportier alternative to the regular Cayenne, the Cayenne Coupe will be one of seven upcoming Volkswagen Group SUVs that will use a new version of the MLB platform. It will have a narrower greenhouse, lower roofline, and sloping rear end. The interior will be the same as that of the next-generation Cayenne and will draw stylistic inspiration from the 918 hypercar.

Power will be provided by a range of petrol and diesel engines, as well as plugin petrol-electric and diesel-electric hybrid powertrains.

A Autocar magazine “We have been considering launching a more sporting derivative of the Cayenne for some time now. The problem has been the production capacity at our Leipzig factory and the strong sales of the regular Cayenne.”

And here we thought the Cayenne was already sporty enough as is…

Unsurprisingly, the Cayenne Coupé will command a price premium of 15 to 20 percent over the regular Cayenne, entailing a starting price of around £50,000 (€60,755) in the UK. It is expected to go on sale sometime in 2018.

Bentley Continental GT V8 Brings New Engine, Better Fuel Efficiency

Bentley Continental GT V8 Coupe, Convertible

The GT V8 is fast despite having a downsized engine.

Bentley has given its Continental GT Coupe and GT Convertible a new powertrain that promises better fuel economy while delivering impeccable performance.

Doing away with the W12 TSI engine of the regular Continental GT, the new GT Continental V8 variants feature a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that produces 542 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque, allowing the coupe to accelerate to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 3.9 seconds before topping out at 198 mph (319 km/h). The convertible is a tenth of a second slower to 60 mph but has the same top speed.

Drivers can travel more than 500 miles on a single tank, thanks in part to the new engine’s ability to shut off four of its cylinders when they’re not needed.

Designers gave the Continental GT Coupe and GT Convertible V8 badging and a unique set of 20-inch 10-spoke painted alloy wheels, while interior highlights include twenty-way adjustable leather seats, Crown Cut Walnut trim, a 12.3-inch touchscreen for infotainment duties, and a 650 watt 10-speaker Bentley Audio system that pumps out a powerful 650 watts of entertainment.

Buyers can spruce up their ride even more with a range of exterior colors and interior upholstery configurations and the choice of other wheels up to 22 inches in size.

The Bentley Continental GT V8 models go on sale in the third quarter of 2019.

New, 2020 Cadillac CT5 Sports Sedan Suits Up To Replace CTS

New, 2020 Cadillac CT5 Sports Sedan

The CTS replacement has arrived in style.

Cadillac has unveiled the CT5, the successor to the CTS and the brand’s all-new midsize sports sedan.

Design wise, the new CT5 falls in line with Cadillac’s latest design language, featuring a short and wide shield-shaped grille, angular headlights, and vertical LED daytime running lights.

A fastback-like roofline rather than traditional three-box proportions gives the model a more distinctive side profile than the CTS, while thin, vertical taillights make it instantly recognizable as a member of the Cadillac family.

The CT5 rides on an evolution of the critically-acclaimed Alpha platform that underpins the ATS, the CTS, as well as the Chevrolet Camaro. Power will come from one of two engines (you choose): a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, or a twin-turbocharged, 3.0-liter V6.

Rear-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic transmission come standard, and all-wheel drive will be offered as an option on select models.

Two flavors of the CT5 will be available at launch: Sport and Luxury. The former takes on a more muscular appearance, while the latter goes for elegance instead.

The all-new, 2020 Cadillac CT5 goes on sale in the second half of 2019 after making its world debut at the 2019 New York Auto Show. Are you happy with how it turned out?

Polestar 2 Electric Car Charges Up To Battle Tesla Model 3

Polestar 2 EV, front quarter

Sweden delivers yet another promising electrified vehicle.

The Polestar 2 has arrived, and it’s ready to do battle with the Tesla Model 3 and other premium compact electric cars.

As Polestar’s first fully-electric vehicle, the Polestar 2 draws heavy inspiration from the Volvo 40.2 concept that debuted in 2016, featuring a relatively high ride height for a sedan and a five-door fastback design that makes it more versatile.

In fact, the Polestar 2 is based on Volvo’s Compact Modular Architecture platform and is powered by a drivetrain consisting of two electric motors and a 78 kWh battery that deliver a combined 408 horsepower and 487 lb-ft. of torque, enough power to accelerate it from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in under five seconds.

The 27-module battery pack also integrated into the floor to improve the rigidity of the chassis and improve noise, vibration and harshness levels. It provides the Swedish electric car with a driving range of around 275 miles (443 km) on a single charge.

For those interested in a sportier driving experience, the Polestar 2 will be available with a Performance Pack that adds Öhlins dampers, Brembo brakes and unique 20-inch forged wheels. It also adds gold seat belts, brake calipers and valve caps.

Highlights of the interior include an 11-inch touchscreen that runs an Android-based infotainment system, granting owners access to Google Assistant, Google Maps and a number of other vehicle-based apps.

Production of the Polestar 2 kicks off in China in early 2020, with pricing starting at 39,900 Euros in Europe and at $55,000 in the United States.

Like the Polestar 1, it will be available exclusively via an online ordering system, and there will also eventually be a subscription program to broaden its reach.

Polestar will also introduce a less expensive version of the Polestar 2 down the road.
