Rolls-Royce Celestial Phantom Has 446 Diamonds, Pictures & Details

Rolls-Royce Phantom Celestial Diamonds

At the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, we saw a Rolls-Royce Celestial Phantom with a bespoke headliner that used fiber-optic lights to mimic the night sky on January 1st 2003, the date on which the first Phantom was delivered. The special Phantom made another outing at the 2013 Dubai Motor Show more extravagant than ever, replacing its starry headline with one incorporating hundreds of diamonds.

But it isn’t just the headliners that received the glitzy treatment — diamonds were also hand-set into the door-cappings, center console and in the rear-privacy divider. In total, 446 pieces of the precious stone were used throughout the ultra-premium sedan’s cabin.

Diamonds aside, the interior is also graced with the finest materials money can buy, such as ‘Dusk’-hued leathers that allude to the inky quality of a cloudless night sky. The exterior sports a color scheme that integrates fine glass particles to also evoke the night sky.

They say diamonds are a girls best friend; in the Middle East, they might just be everyone’s best friend. We can only see wealthy Arab men buying this car.

New Chevy Corvette ZR1

There C7 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is finally here, and it will blow the hood off almost every supercar ever made. It’s the fastest, most powerful Corvette yet!

Expectedly, the latest ZR1 shares much of its hardware with the but kicks things up a notch by offering more power, better handling and more overall refinement. Breathing under its hood is a supercharged LT5 V8 that pumps out a whopping 755 horsepower and 715 pound-feet of torque, making it not only the most powerful Corvette ever, but also the most powerful vehicle to roll off Chevy’s assembly line.

A seven-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission — your choice — channels all that power to the rear wheels, allowing the Corvette ZR1 to sprint to 60 mph (96 km/h) from a standstill in approximately 2.8 seconds on route to a top speed of over 210 mph (338 km/h)! That’s puts it in the highly coveted 2 second and 200 mph clubs, which includes the Bugatti Chirron and other world-class exotics.

The Corvette Z06 launched with overheating issues; to spare the ZR1 that fate, engineers equipped a new intercooler and supercharger system, a redesigned nose, a hood opening that channels air to the intercooler, and 13 heat exchangers.

Two aero packages are available to help improve handling, both integrated into the chassis and working in unison with a new front underwing. The first delivers the highest top speed, featuring a low wing that helps generate up to 70 percent more downforce than the Z06’s base aero package.

The second is a two-way-adjustable High Wing that delivers maximum downforce on the track for the quickest lap times, offering 60 percent more downforce than the Z06 with the Z07 Performance Package.

Functional design elements aside, the new Corvette ZR1 introduces a new Sebring Orange Design Package that gives the exterior a Sebring Orange Tintcoat complimented by orange stripes on the rocker panels and splitter, and orange brake calipers. It spruces up the interior with orange and bronze aluminum trim.

Sales of the all-new, 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 start in spring 2018 with a price tag of over $100,000. It will undoubtedly put all other supercars on notice.

New 2015 Subaru WRX STI Sports Car, Pictures & Details [Video]

2015 Subaru WRX STI Sports Car

A new generation of the legendary Subaru WRX STI sports car is upon us, bringing to the forefront the iconic blue and gold color scheme that has become the trademark of Subaru performance.

Looking very much like the latest WRX, likely because it uses most of the same aerodynamic components, the STI is distinguished by gray bars in the front grille, a massive rear wing, Subaru’s traditional World Rally Blue body finish and golden wheels.

Like the exterior, the interior isn’t vastly different from the WRX’s, but specific badging and some unique trim help set it apart.

The performance-tuned sedan is powered by a 4-cylinder 2.5-liter turbocharged boxer engine that pumps out 305 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 290 lb-ft (393 Nm) of peak torque available at 4,000 rpm. An updated 6-speed manual — the only transmission offered — channels all that power through Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel drive system with a center mechanical differential, which in turn puts it to the ground via 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 245/40 R18 summer performance tires.

The STI’s ride benefits from a new platform that offers a stiffer, more agile chassis, with an inverted-strut front suspension promising improved handling. It also features the Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE) powertrain management system, which allows the driver to tailor the car’s driving characteristics by choosing from three selectable modes — “Intelligent,” “Sport” and “Sport Sharp” — via a rotary dial on the center console. The system does so by altering the engine control module and by fine-tuning the electronic throttle control system.

Subaru will offer a WRX STI Launch Edition for fans of the sports car. Limited to just 1,000 units, these special models will be decked out in traditional WR Blue paint and gold BBS forged alloy wheels. They also come with a bespoke interior with an STI short-throw shifter.
