AMG, M and SRT — aside from being highly-recognized performance divisions of their respective automakers, these names resonate power, exclusivity and even prestige. Nissan wants to emulate that success and has announced that NISMO will become its global performance brand.
To recognize the more prominent role NISMO will play in its performance car and motorsports activities, the Japanese automaker has opened new, specially-dedicated global headquarters and a development center for the brand in Yokohama, Japan.
The Juke NISMO and recently-revealed 2014 370Z NISMO will usher in this new chapter in NISMO’s history. The former is already on sale in Europe and Japan, and will arrive in the U.S. in the spring, while the latter goes on sale in the summer. Nissan plans to introduce even more NISMO models with at least one model every year. It also plans to create a range of NISMO performance Nissan models from small cars to flagship sports cars, including the Nissan GT-R.
Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn had the following to say:

Nissan Leaf e-Plus Brings More Power, Promises 226 Mile Range

Nissan has finally unveiled the Leaf e-Plus (e+ for short), a long-range Nissan Leaf that’s better positioned against the Chevrolet Bolt, Hyundai Kona Electric and even the Tesla Model 3.
With a driving range of up to 226 miles (364 km) on a single charge, the LEAF e+ travels 76 miles (122 km) longer than the standard Leaf thanks to a larger 62 kWh lithium-ion battery. It’s also more powerful, featuring a 160 kW (214-hp) electric motor generating 45 percent more power and 250 lb-ft of torque.
Nissan says the LEAF e+ accelerates from 50 mph (80 km/h) to 75 mph (121 km/h) nearly 13 percent quicker than the standard Leaf, with a 10 percent higher top speed speed to boot.
The LEAF e+ can be charged at around 70 kW with a peak of 100 kW. When connected to 100 kW, it charges in a similar time as the base 40 kWh LEAF connected to the 50 kW charger.
Inside, the Leaf e+ brings a new 8-inch display with an updated navigation system that the company says is more responsive, while exterior upgrades are limited to minor accents and a “e+” logo.
The Nissan LEAF remains the world’s best-selling electric car with more than 380,000 units sold since its introduction in 2010. But with Tesla shifting Model 3 production into high gear, only time will tell whether the addition of the long-range LEAF e+ model will keep it at the top of the EV segment for a few more years.
The price will definitely need to be right.
Special Edition Nissan GT-R Introduces 3 New Colors, Celebrates Naomi Osaka
The special edition GT-R celebrates the new face of Nissan with several new color schemes inside and out.
Nissan has taken on tennis Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka as it’s new brand ambassador and unveiled a special-edition GT-R to celebrate the partnership.
Exclusive to Japan, the GT-R in question is based on the GT-R Premium and features a dry carbon rear spoiler and is available with three new exterior colors — Midnight Opal, Brilliant White Pearl or Meteor Flake Black Pearl.
There are also LED top rear lights, as well as unique interior schemes based on the exterior color chosen.
Only 50 units of the special-edition Nissan GT-R will be made, each with a golden model-number plate in the engine room signifying that its one of the 50.
Trivia: During the 2018 US Open, 21-year-old Naomi Osaka became the first Japanese citizen to win a Grand Slam singles tournament after against Serena Williams. Her father is from Haiti, and her mother is Japanese.
Nissan Prices The GT-R Supercar For 2019
Godzilla is still alive and well and a serious threat in the world of supercars.
The Nissan GT-R carries over into 2019 with no major changes, with buyers still having the choice of Pure, Premium, Track Edition and Nismo trim levels.
The GT-R Premium adds an 11-speaker Bose audio system, Active Noise Cancellation and Active Sound Enhancement systems, and Titanium exhaust system, while moving up to the Pure and Premium models gets you better performance on the track. The high-octane, no-nonsense GT-R Nismo offers the most overall fun.
For 2019, the GT-R Pure, Premium and Track Edition trim levels are all powered by a 3.8L 24-valve V6 that producees 565-horsepower and 467 lb-ft of torque, that’s set to all four wheels by a dual-clutch 6-speed transmission. The GT-R Nismo starts at $177,235 and pump out 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque from the same engine.
GT-R enthusiasts with a bottomless pit of money would probably want the striking Nissan GT-R50 By Italdesign, which features entirely different body work and more power. Only 50 units of the Italian Godzilla will be made, so act fast while orders last.
