Rolls-Royce will treat its affluent Middle East customers with an exclusive, special edition Ghost sedan. The model in question, the Rolls-Royce ‘One Thousand and One Nights Ghost”, was inspired by the famous tale ‘The Arabian Nights Entertainment’.
Three different variants of the bespoke Ghost will be offered. The first, so-called Chapter One, has already been unveiled ahead of its public debut at the Sharjah International Automobile Show in late November. The other two models will be unveiled in the first and third quarter of 2013, respectively.
Some features of the Chapter One Ghost include a two-tone matte paint with pin stripe detailing, “One Thousand and One Nights’ in Arabic on the door handles and a black and white leather interior.
“A Rolls-Royce is the perfect canvas from which to commission highly individual motoring masterpieces,” said Geoff Briscoe, Rolls Royce Director for the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. “The One Thousand and One Nights collection is a testament to the ability of our Bespoke designers to take inspiration from a rich array of cultures.”
Bentley Bentayga Speed Nabs “World’s Fastest SUV” Title
The luxury SUV can launch to 62 mph in under 4 seconds.
Bentley proudly boasts that, with a top speed of 190 mph (306 km/h), the Bentayga Speed is the world’s fastest production SUV.
The 6.0-liter W12 engine found in the standard Bentayga has been tweaked to put out 626 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque, providing enough propulsion to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standstill in just 3.9 seconds.
It’s worth noting that the 641 hp, V8-powered Lamborghini Urus is actually lighter and more powerful yet has the same top speed. The fact that the two SUVs are closely related makes us think there were some politics behind this head-scratching outcome.
In addition to the extra power, the Bentayga Speed provides a more dynamic driving experience than the regular Bentayga thanks to a retuned Sport mode and a stiffened suspension, while the exhaust note is throatier.
Designer gave the exterior a performance-theme characterized by dark-tint headlights, blacked-out grilles, a tailgate spoiler, and unique 22-inch wheels available in three finishes. Inside, one finds contrast stitching on the diamond-quilted upholstery and Alcantara trim, the first time the material has been used in a Bentayga.
The Bentley Bentayga Speed goes on sale in the second half of 2019 after making its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
Porsche Taycan Owners Get Three Years Of Free Charging
The German luxury electric sedan will charge for free on Electrify America network at a quick pace.
Porsche has announced that the Taycan, it’s first-ever all-electric vheicle, will come with three years of free charging on the Volkswagen Group’s Electrify America network.
Created as part of VW’s emissions violations settlement, Electrify America plans to build more than 300 highway charging locations and even more community sites across the United States, offering DC fast charging at rates up to 350 kilowatts for a wide range of electric vehicles from various automakers. Porsche’s 191 dealerships will also have DC fast charging installed onsite.
The German automaker claims the Taycan has the fastest charge rate of any EV, capable of adding 60 miles *96 km) of range in just four minutes via a 350-kilowatt connection and 800-volt vehicle battery architecture.
“Together, Electrify America and our Porsche dealer network will provide a national infrastructure for DC fast charging that frees future Taycan owners from range anxiety,” said Klaus Zellmer, President and CEO of PCNA. “And Porsche home charging technology will turn the customer’s garage into the equivalent of a personal gas station.”
Porsche is so confident in the success of its first-ever electric car that it doubled output from the initial target of 20,000 units per year to 40,000 units annually.
Porsche Doubles Taycan Production To 40,000 A Year
The company expects to sell as many of its electric car as the Tesla Model S.
An optimistic Porsche has doubled its planned annual production volume for the Taycan, its first-ever all-electric vehicle.
In anticipation of strong demand, the German automaker has increased output from the initial target of 20,000 units per year to 40,000 units annually.
“We had been ready for it,” Porsche spokesperson Andrew Lennon told . “We had the ability to increase capacity from the beginning, and executives recently made the decision to go ahead.”
Porsche likely expects Taycan sales to match or exceed demand for the Tesla Model S. In 2018, Tesla delivered more than 99,000 Model S and X vehicles, with the Model S accounting for approximately half of that combined total.
The Porsche Taycan goes on sale by the end of 2019. Pricing hasn’t been announced, but it will reportedly start between the Cayenne and Panamera, suggesting a price of around $80,000 in the United States.
